Geneva's Coat of Arms, Cathedral of Geneva

ESP Escudo de la ciudad de Ginebra ubicado en el tímpano de una puerta exterior próxima al ábside de la catedral de Ginebra. Las fechas que lo flanquean corresponden a las de la intensa restauración llevada a cabo a finales del s. XIX . El emblema de la ciudad consta de un campo partido, con el águila imperial a la izquierda, ya que fue ciudad libre del Sacro Imperio, y una llave a la derecha, reminiscencia esta de las llaves de San Pedro, a quien está dedicada la Catedral y emblema originario de la Diócesis

ENG Coat of arms of the city of Geneva located on the tympanum of an exterior door near the apse of Geneva Cathedral. The dates flanking it correspond to those of the extensive restoration carried out at the end of the 19th century. The city’s emblem consists of a divided field, with the imperial eagle on the left, as it was a free city of the Holy Roman Empire, and a key on the right, reminiscent of the keys of St. Peter, to whom the cathedral is dedicated and the original emblem of the Diocese.
